As industry language evolves, when does the UCF Team change or update the language in our Common Controls?
Here is the Term life cycle the UCF team follows when industry terminology beings evolving:
1. New Variant only in an Authority Document
When a new variant of commonly used terminology appears in an Authority Document, the UCF team enters the new variant as a Non-standard term of the commonly used terminology.
2. New Variant with a definition in an Authority Document
When a definition for a new variant of commonly used terminology appears in an Authority Document, the term is entered as a (or changed to) synonym.
3. New Variant prevails in usage
When a variant becomes the more prevalent term encountered in Authority Documents or the industry, the variant becomes the preferred term.
It is at this stage the UCF team considers updating the language in our Common Controls.
