How do I allow ServiceNow to access my account via the API?

CCH Customer Prerequisites:

Applications that are configured to access your account via the API can read your CCH account, users, Authority Document lists, groups, initiatives, and other account data.

ServiceNow Prerequisites:

  • Role required: admin
  • ServiceNow version Helsinki (Patch 7 and above)
  • GRC: Compliance UCF (com.sn_comp_ucf) plugin

***Notes:

For ServiceNow version Kingston and above your CCH admin should create an API Key. To find out how to create an API Key, check out our FAQ article on Creating an API Key

For ServiceNow versions Helsinki through Jakarta you must obtain the OAuth 2 client_id and client_secret from ServiceNow support. To find out how to contact ServiceNow support, check out ServiceNow's support webpage on ServiceNow Support or support documentation on Create HI Request for UCF-CCH account integration information. You cannot create the OAuth 2 client_id and client_secret from your own Common Controls Hub account.

ServiceNow currently supports importing a single shared, Authority Document list that is a superset of all previously imported Authority Documents. Example: If you import a shared, Authority Document list that contains 3 Authority Documents into ServiceNow then change or remove an Authority Document from that list then attempts to reimport that list will return an error message.***
